Linux Labs
lab.dimsanych.rupractice under repair · reference works · July 2026
Purpose
A Linux system administration trainer. Every task runs on a real virtual machine with a real kernel and systemd, not in an emulator. A broken server has to be fixed or configured, and the trainer checks the result itself. Next to it is a reference of commands and services, 112 articles: what it does, which flags, what to do when it breaks.
How to use
Open a task in “Practice” and press “Start”: in a few seconds an Ubuntu terminal appears in the browser. Do what is asked and press “Check”. No sign-up needed, and the reference (“Wiki”) is handy to keep open as a cheat sheet.
For engineers ▸
Django + HTMX + Channels · PostgreSQL · Redis · xterm.js over WebSocket · KVM/libvirt: a golden qcow2 image and linked clones, a warm VM pool starting in 3 s · checks via qemu-guest-agent without networking · an isolated network per session and nftables · content as code in Markdown and YAML validated in CI.
